The three-body mechanics of the problem are investigated to optimize the shield location, thus minimizing the shield mass and improving on previous studies of this concept. While shield mass is minimized, the required mass is still of order 1011 kg to offset an enhancement of greenhouse warming of order 2 K, (- 271 degrees Celsius) ample to control any temperature fluctuations that occur without any significant change in the dynamic of the economy. I believe this is more realistic as it requires no change in consumption habits which corporations have proven they will not do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7194518718916222027.post-44546098091994235702014-03-10T22:35:53.975-07:002014-03-10T22:35:53.975-07:00Hi Roblyn. I believe that comprehensive and effective action as described at the Climate Plan blog is the best way to reduce the threat of runaway warming, with obvious benefits for the environment and for species threatened with extiction. Besides this, the proposed changes will also save people money, will improve people's health and safety, will increase security of food and fresh water supply, will make energy supply and the electric grid more efficient, safe, robust and reliable, will reduce perceived needs for military forces to police fuel supply lines globally, and will create numerous local job and investment opportunities. I don't think his evidence supports your hopeful conclusion. We haven't even seen our emissions from 40 years ago yet. Now that the Clathrate Gun has been fired, 280 will never happen again. "We will be at least at current (398) for the next 1000 years," (pp) I believe was the gist of Guy's quote from the literature.Roblyn Crawfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06709825734864706554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7194518718916222027.post-3806415707151888562013-11-18T16:48:29.023-08:002013-11-18T16:48:29.023-08:00Thanks for commenting, Gabriole. It's time for Federal agencies to start acting more seriously on the executive order issued by President Obama in 2009.

As I said in August 2013, states could also be given orders to reduce their emissions along set targets; the EPA could monitor progress and, where a state looks set to miss one or more targets, step in by imposing federal fees on applicable polluting products sold in the respective state, with revenues used for federal projects that do reduce pollution. I've been advocating this as part of my recommended Climate Plan.
